This year, the Fourth of July is extra special as America celebrates its 250th birthday. It's hard to believe we're already here.
The Fourth of July always feels like the heart of summer, even though the stores have already started filling up with fall decorations. We've passed the summer solstice, so the days are getting a little shorter now instead of longer. We're also in the middle of a heat wave.
If you're working outside or spending time in the sun, please take care of yourself, stay hydrated, and try to keep cool.
Local Vibes
There is no shortage of things to do around Erie this month.
Open Market at LEAF Park, 8 Great Tuesdays concerts on the Bayfront, Sunset Summer Concerts on Wednesdays at Presque Isle, Discover Presque Isle, Erie SeaWolves games, and community fairs and farmers markets throughout the area.
If you're looking for an excuse to get outside, summer in Erie delivers.
Real Estate Vibes
The real estate market continues to move at a steady pace. There are still more buyers than sellers, which is keeping competition strong.
If you're hoping to be in a new home before school starts, there's still time. Homes that go under contract over the next couple of weeks can often close in early August.
A quick reminder that I'm now licensed in both Pennsylvania and New York. If you've been thinking about buying or selling on either side of the state line, I'd love to help.
Random Great Lakes Fact
Did you know there were vineyards here before California became wine country?
The Lake Erie Grape Belt stretches from Erie all the way to Westfield, New York. Thanks to Lake Erie's moderating effect on the climate, this became one of the largest grape-growing regions in America during the 1800s.
Long before California dominated the wine industry, our region was producing enormous quantities of grapes, grape juice, and wine.
See you around the lake,
